Fire Mountain Scout Camp (FMSC) is located just outside of Mount Vernon, WA in the shadow of Cultus Mountain, a foothill to the North Cascades. With our own Lake Challenge at its heart, Fire Mountain is a green forest of Cedar trees and grassy fields. For 50 years Fire Mountain has been the home of Scouting’s outdoor program in the Mount Baker Council. We invite YOU to make Fire Mountain your Scouting home as well!
At Fire Mountian we host a wide variety of programs throughout the year for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers, and more! Click the link below to learn more.
Fire Mountain is a great place to visit throughout the year. If your Scouting unit is interested in camping at Fire Mountain in the “off-season”, click below for information, and to make a reservation.
For 50 years the Fire Mountain Camp Staff have worked hard to provide life changing program to every scout that has entered our gates. We challenge you to join us in building the adventure!
Fire Mountain includes all the premier camping facilities you would expect to find and then some. Featuring programs in: Aquatics (new palm-treed sandy swim beach and a complete boating program including stand-up paddle boards), COPE/Climbing (newer High COPE and 1000+ foot tandem zipline), Shooting Sports (new western-style Cowboy Action Range), Outdoor Skills, Mountain Boarding and Mountain Biking, Nature/Conservation and Crafts along with many programs focusing on the patrol method.
Merit Badge Madness is a day long Merit Badge clinic held at Fire Mountain. Scouts sign up to visit camp for the day and work on a single MB class from 9AM until about 5PM (some classes may vary on end time) with a break for lunch.
Merit Badge classes are facilitated by volunteer counselors supported logistically by volunteer seasonal camp staff. If you would be interested in signing up to teach a merit badge for the day please fill out this interest form HERE.
Participants taking the two-day Level 1 Instructor Course learn Leave No Trace skills, ethics, and techniques for educating others about these low-impact practices. In-person Level 1 Instructor Courses typically occur over two consecutive days and involve spending more than half of the course outdoors.
