Where is Fire Mountain located?

Fire Mountain – East of Mount Vernon:
26027 Walker Valley Road
Mount Vernon, WA 98274

My troop visits Fire Mountain during the year, why would we want to attend summer camp at Fire Mountain?

Many troops utilize our camps during the off-season for a variety of programs – from OA events to Camporees to troop camp outs.  These are great uses of our camp and one of the reasons the Mount Baker Council provides and promotes off-season use.

However, off-season events do not compare to the full program offered during the summer camp season.  Fire Mountain comes alive during the summer.  Program, staff, and interaction with Scouts from across the country provide your Scouts experiences that will last their entire lifetime.

What options are available to help a Scout pay for summer camp?

The Mount Baker Council believes every youth should have the opportunity to attend a summer camp.  We have money set aside specifically to provide Scouts in need with the funding necessary to attend summer camp.  These camperships, combined with fundraising opportunities, ensures all Scouts can attend our camps.

Camperships are only available for Mount Baker Council units, for use to attend summer camp at Fire Mountain Scout Camp.  Families can apply for financial help through the Opportunity Fund online at https://www.mountbakerbsa.org/camping/opportunity-fund-camp-grants/.

What programs do you offer for older Scouts?

Fire Mountain camps offer a wide variety of programs such as climbing, sailing, black powder shooting, mountain biking, BSA Lifeguard, high and low COPE, mountain boarding, motor boating. For more information refer to the Leader’s Guide which is posted online in the spring under Camp Forms.

Our Senior Patrol Leader wasn’t able to spend much time on personal advancement during summer camp. Can they attend camp with another troop?

Absolutely!  Your Senior Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader can both attend a second week of camp as a provisional campers.  This gives your Scout the time necessary to focus on the needs of the troop during your week of camp, and gives them a week to experience camp and work on personal advancement.
For 2021, due to COVID restrictions, the only provisional week is July 5-10, Adventure Week.

Because of family commitments, our Scout can not attend summer camp with their troop.  Is there still a way they can attend camp?

NOTE: Due to COVID restrictions, the provisional camper program is suspended during regular summer camp.
However, Adventure week is open to individual camper registrations.  July 5-10.  More info coming soon!

Yes, your Scout may come as a provisional camper. They will be partnered with a troop at camp the week they can attend. They will stay in the host troop’s campsite, eat and participate in activities with that troop but work on their own advancement schedule. Arrangements must be made with the camp director prior to camp.  Other conditions may apply.  Please contact the Council office for additional information. You can sign up as a Provisional Camper online starting January 1.
