In 1981, the National Committee of the Order of the Arrow saw the need for an award that lodges could present Arrowmen who best exemplify the spirit of the Order of the Arrow as described by our Founder, E. Urner Goodman.  This award was made to recognize those who go above and beyond in Cheerful spirit in the midst of irksome tasks and weighty responsibilities.  One of the hallmarks of this award is it is intended to recognize those that are truly servant leaders.
